VROUW! is five women from different countries and artistic backgrounds, creating and performing together since 2019. They are an ensemble invested in creating experimental improvised music that has a distinct sound. They emerged from the queer avant-garde music and performance scene in Berlin.
Their sound is based on using amplified objects, careful listening, and the strong presence of multiple voices and languages. Some of the objects they play are self-made, including their signature microphone hats. VROUW! released their first album Sonic Replicants in 2022 with Econore Records. Their first vinyl LP VROUW! came out the following year on Soft Noise Acousmatics and supported by Musikfonds.
